Thank You

I would like to take this time to thank all of you for your support in yesterday's election. I am looking forward to helping the schools in Roxbury give our children the education they need for a successful future!

  4. No one "tells" me how to vote - I make my own decisions. And the students and the taxpayers are in the forefront of my mind - but let us not forget that the Board of Education is there to educate children. To take a quote from today's Daily Record in reference to the Parsippany budget being ripped apart by the Town Council:
"It's our children who will suffer. They didn't create the financial crisis in this country, and they should not have to pay for it," said Sandy Giercyk.

I live my life extremely frugally, but there is only so much you can cut costs in reference to education of our children if you expect them to succeed in life. Children shouldn't be sacrificing their education.

  5. In his education speech in March 2009 President Barack Obama said, "The future belongs to the nation that best educates its citizens. We have everything we need to be that nation ... and yet, despite resources that are unmatched anywhere in the world, we have let our grades slip, our schools crumble, our teacher quality fall short and other nations outpace us."
We need to devote the resources to education that our children need and deserve. It is the most important tool a child receives to help him or her be successful in an increasingly globalized economy.
As a parent living in Roxbury, I would like to say I hope you will be committed to protecting the education of our children from those who are shortsighted enough to think that saving money now won't cost us far more in the long-term.

  6. I sincerely agree with your thoughts. I understand the need to save money - but I cannot understand sacrificing our children's education in order to save a few dollars. I have said many times in the past few months - we have one shot at giving our children an education to last them a lifetime - we must take that responsibility seriously.
